Joy of the LORD (YHVH) is Your Strength Nehemiah 8:10

Nehemiah 8:10 …Do not be sad, for the joy of YHVH is your strength.”

Translators many times use one english word to represent several different Hebrew or Greek words.  This on many occasions causes us to lose the deep meaning of each Hebrew or Greek words that are similar but variant.

This is the case with the word “joy” in several different passages that I will not note.  I will focus on the one Hebrew word that is used in this verse, Nehemiah 8:10b.  Hebrew “chedvah”

This is not contrived joy.

Definition of contrived:

  1. Deliberately created rather than arising naturally or spontaneously.
  2. Giving a sense of artificiality.

Instead, the joy of “chedvah” comes from YHVH.  It is something, I believe, we receive when we adjoin ourselves to Him.  It’s His “joy.”

Strongs H2304

chedvah (khed-vaw’ )-rejoicing: – gladness, joy.

Root Word Strongs H2302

chadah (khaw-daw’)

A primitive root; to rejoice: – make glad, be joined, rejoice.

Let’s look at the meaning of each Hebrew letter of “chedvah” Hebrew words always have meaning. By knowing the meaning of each letter, you can many times figure out what that word represents or defines.

(Hebrew reads right to left)

chedvah” = Joy.

 (Heth) – Fence, seperation,

(Dalet) – Open Door

(Vav)– Connect or Secure, Nail

(Hey) – Revelation

We see that the “joy of the Yahweh” puts us in or surrounds us in His protection that opens the door that connects us to revelation; the revelation of Him.

Thus continuing on with this verse, we see that Nehemiah understood this association of joy of the LORD with His protection as we look at the last word of this verse, “strength.”

Strongs H4581

maoz  mauz  maoz  mauz

maw-oze’,maw-ooz’,maw-oze’,maw-ooz’

Conclusion

Wow! So now we see, that the joy of the YHVH keeps us protected within His fortress.

The desire of YHVH as we walk in Messiah Yeshua is to restore us to the beginning. To return us to His protection, the garden:

Gen 2:8 And the LORD God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed.

Strongs H1588

gan

gan

From H1598; a garden (as fenced): – garden.

Root Word Strongs H1598

ganan

gaw-nan’

A primitive root; to hedge about, that is, (generally) protect: – defend.

Hmm? Garden? Fenced? You think the Father’s trying to make a point here. Think He’s trying to send us a message? I think so.

With His Joy we overcome and are strengthen.  We overcome:

  1. Depression
  2. Anger
  3. Jealousy
  4. Offenses
  5. Sadness
  6. Fear
  7. Sorrow
  8. And much more

With all this said, we shouldn’t be surprised that “joy” is one of the fruits of the Spirit of our God.  For the “joy of the LORD” is from Him!  His joy.  By His Spirit.

Galatians 5:22-23 (LITV)

But the fruit of the Spirit is: love, joy, peace, long-suffering, kindness, goodness, faith,

meekness, self-control.

So we must access the “joy of the LORD (YHVH)”.

  • Repent
  • Let yourself be His.
  • Open your heart.
  • Submit

Walk in “the joy of the YHVH”. By doing this, we live in true eternal life and shalom. In His protection, in His commandments that is His Torah. We live in and by His Spirit in His Living Torah, the Messiah Yeshua, the Word of YHVH.

Shalom to You all.

Yah will bless and keep you.
He will make His face to shine upon you and be gracious to you.
He will lift up His countenance upon you and keep you in shalom.

Amen
